Extensions to the System
The “Movement Controller”
software may also be extended to the total control of a system
incorporating over-head vacuum cranes, tray-handling cranes, vertical carousels,
automatic-guided vehicles, and people instructed via radio terminals as well as
heavy-unit-load and carton conveyors, palletisers, pick-to-light systems and
stacker cranes.
Support for each sub-system includes:
- Inclusion of the sub-system on the system overview and zoomed
displays,
- Specialised screens to present the status of the sub-systems and to
control them, with (providing the sub-system is suitably programmed) the
provision for manual control. Also displayed on these screens are
explanations of how the automatic system is making use of the
sub-system,
- Inclusion, in the alarms and operator actions log, of alarms from,
and operator actions upon, these sub-systems,
(see the Operator's Manual sections
Event Log Historic Report, and
Archive List of Events to Floppy Disc)
- Inclusion, in the load movements log, of movements into and out of
these sub-systems,
(see the Operator's Manual sections
Load Log Historic Report, and
Archive Load Movements to Floppy Disc)
- Simulation of these sub-systems,
- The display and adjustment of the memory of the PLC, providing the
communications protocol of the sub-system is suitable. The symbol of the
data element at the cursor may be automatically displayed, providing the
sub-system is based on Allen-Bradley PLC-5 or SLC-500 controllers and
the program is supplied and documented, (see
Monitoring PLC Data and Program)
- The display of the PLC ladder program, with animation and symbols
providing the sub-system is based on Allen-Bradley PLC-5 or SLC-500
controllers and the program is supplied and documented, (see
Monitoring PLC Data and Program)
- Display of the communications to the sub-systems with optional
logging and reporting. (see the Operator's Manual section
Monitor idunications)
